More and more smartphones, e.g. iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Nokia N97 & N900 and even Windows Mobile, have inbuilt GPS receivers and routing software. The advantage of the GPS smartphone over personal navigation devices is in its connectivity. Its that feature which allows you to reach out for the answer/direction/location that you need, when you need it. 

So these GPS smartphones are really great, right? Well yes and no. They have inherited legacy issues from the personal navigation world. For example, the world is big and flash memory cards are small – not every location/address can be stored on the card. Some locations have multiple spellings and it often happens that the mapping software simple cannot find your desired destination.
